Founded in 1901 as the Boston Americans, the Boston Red Sox are one of the most beloved teams in American professional sports, at least in part because they have proven, on more than one occasion, their ability to compete at the highest levels of competition. Since being founded, the Red Sox have won 7 World Series titles. They have also earned a number of other titles, including 6 East Division titles and 12 American League pennants. With one World Series title won in 2004 and another in 2007, the Red Sox were actually one of the most accomplished teams of the 2000’s. Since 1901, the Red Sox franchise has been home to some of the greatest players in baseball history, including such Hall of Fame legends as Babe Ruth, Cy Young, Ted Williams, Jim Rice, Wade Boggs, and many others. To this day, the Boston Red Sox continue to have one of the most loyal and impressive fan bases in the country, and they probably always will.
